Alfred the Great (890-899), silver Penny, Mercian dies, moneyer Eadwald, Two Line type. Obv. Small cross pattée within plain inner circle. Rev. EADV/VALD, divided by a pellet and trefoil left and right. 1.13g, die axis 6h (S.1066; North 637). A pleasing coin, especially so in hand, lightly toned. Good very fine.
