Anglo-Saxon (695-740), silver Sceat, Early Anglo-Saxon period (c.600-775), Continental issues (c.695-c.740), Series E, tertiary issue. Obv. Porcupine-like figure, the body flanked by two pelleted lines, enclosing three bars. Rev. Votive standard with pellet-in-annulet in centre, flanked by two large T’s. 0.81g, (S.790D; SCBI 69 275; SL 275). Lightly toned,centrally struck and lustrous, a pleasing example. Extremely fine and a seemingly rare variety.
