Charles I (1625-1649), silver Halfgroat, 1631-1632, Nicholas Briot’s coinage (1631-1639), first milled issue (1631-1632), m.m. B on obverse only, edge milled vertically. Obv. Briot’s bust facing left, with falling lace collar, II as mark of value behind, ‘B’ below. Rev. Square-topped shield of arms over long cross forchée. 1.04g, die axis 6h (S.2856; North 2302). Toned, the devices clear and well struck, a delightful coin. A bold very fine.
