Cnut (1016-1035), silver Penny, 1024-1030, London mint, moneyer Aelfwig, Pointed Helmet type. Obv. Bust facing left, wearing pointed helmet and holding sceptre. Rev. Voided short cross, annulet in centre, each quarter with annulet enclosing pellet. 0.98g, die axis 3h (S.1158; North 787). A choice example, almost full outer beading visible, a superb piece, much eye appeal. Extremely fine.
