Coenwulf (796-821), silver Penny, 810-821, Canterbury mint, moneyer Swefheard, Kings of Mercia, large portrait type. Obv. Draped and diademed bust facing right. Rev. Cross fourchée within plain inner circle, pellet in each angle. 1.30g, die axis 9h (S.916; North 353; Naismith C43h). Dark even tone in the recesses, full and round with an even strike, a lovely example. A bold very fine and rare.
