Eadgar (959-975), silver Penny, York mint, moneyer Heriger, pre-reform coinage (973), Two-line type. Obv. Small cross pattée within inner circle. Rev. Moneyer name spread over two lines, divided by three cross patées at centre, trefoil above and below. 1.31g, die axis 7h (S.1129; North 741). Some areas of striking weakness, else full and round with a lovely light grey tone, a pleasing example. Good very fine.

Ex. Tetney Hoard, Lincolnshire, discovered May 1945, with old Tetney Hoard ticket, classified as R.N.C 250-9.
