Edward III (1327-1377), silver Groat, 1354-1355, London mint, fourth coinage (1351-1377), pre-treaty period (1351-1361), ‘broken letters’, V in CIVITAS with nick in right limb, Series E, m.m. cross 2/cross 2. Obv. Crowned bust facing within inner circle. Rev. Long cross to edge of coin, 3 pellets in each central quarter within inner beaded circle, N’s of London reverse-barred. 4.69g, die axis 7h (S.1567; North 1163). Very fine.
