Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), silver Penny, York mint, moneyer Snebern, hammer cross type. Obv. Crowned bust facing right holding sceptre. Rev. Voided short cross with each limb terminating in an incurved segment of a circle, annulet in 4th quarter. 1.35g, die axis 9h (S.1182; North 828). Some weakness in legends, otherwise a bold and pleasing portrait with a attractive light grey tone. Good very fine.
