Edward the Elder (899-924), silver Penny, East Anglian mint, uncertain moneyer, Small Cross type variant. Obv. Small cross pattée in plain inner circle. Rev. Moneyer’s name in two lines divided by a row of three crosses, trefoil of pellets above and below. 1.46g, die axis 9h (S.1087; North 649). A pleasing tone. Good very fine and rare.
