George II (1727-1760), copper Proof Halfpenny, 1729, first issue, no stop after GEORGIVS. Obv. Laureate and cuirassed bust facing left. Rev. Britannia seated facing left, date in exergue. 9.13g, die axis 6h (Peck 835; S.3717 for type). Britannia of an almost matt appearance, traces of the subtype on the reverse, a well struck piece with a delightful chocolate colour tone. Rare. Formerly slabbed and graded as PF63 BN.
