George III (1760-1820), copper Gilt Proof pattern Penny, 1806, Birmingham (Soho) mint, obverse die type KP31: Imperfect date – base of 1 is missing, 0 is open at the top, m.m. Soho on reverse only, edge grained in centre. Obv. Laureate and draped bust facing right, date below. Rev. Britannia seated facing left above waves, ship to left. 18.96g, die axis 12h (S.3780; Peck 1325). Brilliant glowing fields, a delightful coin. Practically mint state.
