George III (1760-1820), copper Proof Penny, 1806, Birmingham (Soho) mint, obverse die type KP31: imperfect date; base of 1 is missing, 0 is open at the top, m.m. Soho on reverse only, edge grained in centre. Obv. Laureate and draped bust facing right, date below. Rev. Britannia seated facing left above waves, ship to left, exergue plain. 18.97g, die axis 12h (S.3780; Peck 1327). Small edge bruise at 3 o’clock and just the slightest of friction to the high points under magnification, else toned with underlying brilliance, a pleasing coin. About uncirculated and scarce.
