Harthacnut (1035-1042), silver Penny, 1040-1042, Huntingdon mint, moneyer Wulfwine, sole reign (1040-1042), arm and sceptre type, with kings name given as ‘Harthacnut’. Obv. Diademed bust facing left holding sceptre. Rev. Quadrilateral with pellet in centre and at each apex, over voided short cross. 1.12g, die axis 3h (S.1168; North 811). Small area of weakness on reverse, otherwise a well centred and bold strike on good quality metal, a choice and highly desirable coin of this rare monarch. Approaching extremely fine and very rare.
