James II (1685-1688), silver Halfcrown, 1687, first bust, 6 strings to harp. Obv. Laureate and draped bust facing left. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields, angles plain, date split by English crown. 15.24g, die axis 6h (S.3408; Bull 753). Light steely grey tone, the reverse somewhat bright, the fields with a pleasing rainbow tone. Good very fine or better.
