James II (1685-1688), silver Crown, 1688, second bust, 6 strings to harp. Obv. Laureate and draped bust facing left. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields, angles plain, date split by English crown. 29.92g, die axis 6h (S.3407; Bull 746). Weakness at date, otherwise a handsome coin with problem free fields and a pleasant light steely grey tone. A bold good very fine or better.
