Late shields over early shields and R/B in BR, a stunning example.
Sold - Mar 21
James II (1685-1688), silver Sixpence, 1688, late shields over early shields, Bull states B/R in BR but this example seems to be R/B (so almost appearing as RR). Obv. Laureate and draped bust facing left. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields, angles plain, date split by English crown. 2.99g, die axis 6h (S.3413; Bull 780). Some very trivial flecking on the obverse bearly visible with the naked eye, an attractive steely grey tone, the reverse with hints of lustre, a stunning example of this type. Almost extremely fine and very rare, especially so in this condition.
