William I (1066-1087), silver Penny, 1083-1086, Gloucester mint, moneyer Seolewine, Paxs type, BMC VIII. Same dies as Bristol & Gloucester Museum plate coin, Crown 1. Obv. Diademed and Crowned bust facing with sceptre. Rev. Cross pattée with an annulet containing one letter of the PAXS in each quarter. 1.38g, die axis 3h (S.1257; North 848). Almost extremely fine and rare.

With old hand written ticket.
