George III (1760-1820), copper Halfpenny, 1771, London (Tower) mint, first issue, ball below spear blade. Obv. Laureate and cuirassed bust facing right. Rev. Britannia seated facing left, date in exergue. 9.16g, die axis 6h (S.3774; Peck 898). A little weakness of strike on Britannia’s head, otherwise with a delightful chocolate patina and traces of lustre on both sides, choice. Slabbed and graded by NGC as MS64 BN.
