William III (1694-1702), silver Sixpence, 1696y, York mint, script ‘y’, early harp, large crowns, 9 billets, 3 strings to harp, m.m. ‘y’ on obverse only, edge milled diagonally. Obv. First laureate and draped bust facing right, y below. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields, Lion of Nassau in centre, angles plain, date split by English crown. 2.94g, die axis 6h (S.3525; Bull 1296). A decent example with an attractive steely grey tone. Good very fine to about extremely fine.
