Cnut (1016-1035), silver Penny, 1023-1030, Thetford mint, moneyer Aelfwine, Pointed Helmet type, BMC XIV. Obv. Bust facing left, wearing pointed helmet and holding sceptre. Rev. Voided short cross, annulet in centre, each quarter with annulet enclosing pellet. 1.11g, die axis 6h (S.1158; North 787). Light golden tone over problem-free original fields, nicely rounded with sharp devices, a choice example of this popular type . Practically as struck.
