Edward I (1272-1307), silver Penny, 1280-1281, London mint, new coinage (1279 onwards), Class 3f. Obv. Crowned facing bust within beaded inner circle. Rev. Voided long cross, three pellets in each angle. 1.34g, die axis 10h (S.1392; North 1021). Some striking weakness and a few light hairline scratches, reminiscent of a field field and now toned, the main portrait features visible, a decent example of this scarcer portrait type. Very fine and scarce.
