About Us
Welcome to Avere Coins. We hope that you like our new look, new feel and newly branded website. Since the company was founded, we have grown in size and are a well-established and well-respected business, offering a wealth of experience and knowledge in the numismatic marketplace.
The company has grown to a dedicated team of six, founded by our Managing Director, Mark Horton. Mark is well known within the trade and a lifelong coin and banknote collector, as well as being a member of the British Numismatic Society (BNS).
A recent addition to the Avere team and joining Mark in the daily running of the company is Caroline Horton. Caroline heads up the new Avere Moderns department and with her keen passion for linguistics, positive approach to engaging with clients and having a good grasp of modern issues, Caroline has been a welcomed addition to the Avere Coins team.
Avere Coins has recently expanded its portfolio to now include ancient coinage, British hammered and early milled coins, historic medals and British banknotes. Avere Coins are also proud members of the known and trusted British Numismatic Trade Association (BNTA), so you can sell to, and buy from Avere with absolute confidence.
This website is regularly update with quality, choice and rare coins, banknotes and historic medals and each time, an e-mail list is sent out. To make sure you receive e-mail lists, and are therefore among the first to be notified when new stock is added, submit your name and e-mail address to the ‘KEEP IN TOUCH‘ section found at the foot of each dedicated website page. Just one or two lists are generally e-mailed, every 4 to 6 weeks so please don’t worry about being bombarded!
Our Approach
You, our clients, are unquestionably the most important element of Avere Coins and our focus as a team is to provide you with an effortless browsing experience accompanied with a service that is transparent, professional, and diverse.
It takes a long time to accumulate a group of coins, banknotes and medals boasting quality and rarity amongst its ranks, let alone being diverse enough to cover the multitude of collecting habits that exists in numismatics today. It is greater work of course to maintain such levels on an ongoing basis – something we are working tirelessly to achieve!
We are here as a retail outlet for collectors and investors for both buying and selling coins, banknotes and medals offering material to suit all budgets. Best endeavours will always be made to keep a comprehensive choice of stock available with quality and rarity at the fore.

Looking to sell?
We offer excellent, flexible terms. We are always keen to purchase numismatic material, whether that be a pedigree coin, a recent detector find, a boot sale bargain or complete collection. You can of course choose to sell your coins via private treaty, working with us as a partner if you prefer. Please do get in touch to discuss your options in more detail.
