Anglo-Saxon (695-740), silver Sceat, Early Anglo-Saxon period (c.600-775), continental issues (c.695-c.740), Series E, variety C. Obv. Degenerate head facing left, pelleted bars below. Rev. Asymmetric voided cross within central beaded square, pellets in each angle forming a single cross, annulet at centre. 1.10g, (S.790D; Sceatta List 95-10 (this coin); SCBI 69 273 (this coin)). Demonstrating a beautiful light steely grey tone, the reverse geometric design particularly attractive and with much eye appeal. Choice extremely fine and very rare.
