Anglo-Saxon (695-740), silver Sceat, Early Anglo-Saxon period (c.600-775), Continental issues (c.695-c.740), Porcupine type, Series E, variety F, ‘Frankener Phase’. Obv. Porcupine-like figure, the body flanked by two pelleted lines, enclosing annulet and bar below. Rev. Votive standard of symmetrical right angles, annulet in centre, flanked by bars and pellets. 1.00g, (S.790; SL 100-20; North 48; Abramson 288). Good quality metal, lightly toned mostly in the recesses serving to nicely highlight the devices, well struck and pleasing. A bold good very fine or better.
