Anglo-Saxon (710-760), silver Sceat, Early Anglo-Saxon period (c.600-775), Secondary phase (c. 710-c. 760), Series B or G/J mule (formerly Series BIIIB). Obv. Diademed head facing right with angular nose and ear, cross to right. Rev. Bird facing left on cross dividing annulets either side, pellets below, blundered legend surrounding. 0.90g, die axis 5h (S.800/802; Sceatta List 22-10; SCBI 69, 330 (this coin); Metcalf no. 91). A highly desirable mule, bold with much eye appeal. Practically extremely fine and very rare.
