Anglo-Saxon (710-760), silver Sceat, Early Anglo-Saxon period (c.600-775), Secondary phase (c.710-c.760), Series R, ‘Rigold’ type. Obv. Degenerate angular bust facing right, runes in front. Rev. Degenerate standard, annulet at centre, cross pommée to each outer side. 0.93g, (S.813A; SL 11-120). The reverse a little off centre, otherwise on a large, slightly thinner flan, boasting a beautiful deep dark grey patina, the portrait bold, a pleasing coin in hand. Almost extremely fine.
