Atrebates & Regni, gold Quarter Stater, c.55-45 BC, early uninscribed coinage, Bognor Cogwheel, Mane type. Obv. Wreath design with crescentic ‘hidden face’ motif. Rev. Triple-tailed horse with beaded mane, facing right, sun above, cogwheel below, pellet-in-annulets and crescents in field. 1.19g, (ABC 509; S.48; Sills British Qc, Cog Type, class 1a). A pleasing coin with sharp details, the horse and cog wheel especially so, the metal a rose gold in colour, a presentable example.
