Atrebates & Regni, Tincomarus, gold Stater, 25 BC – 10 AD, Tincomarus Warrior type, class 3. Obv. TINC in incuse tablet on plain field. Rev. Warrior on rearing horse right, holding Javelin triumphantly in raised right hand, C F below, six pointed star above. 5.34g, (ABC 1055; DK 332 Class 3 Classical Warrior). The obverse a little weak, otherwise the flan nice and round, with a fantastic depiction of a triumphant warrior horse, an iconic coin.

Provenance
Ex. Geoff Cottam Collection Spink Dec 2015.

This coin was struck using reverse die 10, one of only two dies that shows a six pointed star which Creighton interprets as the “Sidus Iulium, or comet representing the transformation of Julius Caesar from a mortal into a god” (Coins and Power in Late Iron Age Britain, J Creighton 2000).

Note, the population count for this type is extremely deceptive. ABC lists it as just scarce (51-100 examples) and Divided Kingdoms lists 93 coins. However to date 86 of these are in museums, leaving just 7 available to collectors. It could arguably be defined therefore as extremely rare in the private market.
