Charles I (1625-1649), silver Shilling, 1625-1642, London (Tower) mint, Under King, Group E, m.m. Anchor/Anchor. Obv. Fifth ‘Aberystwyth’ bust, smaller type, facing left, single arched crown and lace collar, mark of value behind. Rev. Square topped shield of arms over cross moline. Housed in N/A. 6.04g, die axis 1h (S.2796; Brooker 518 (this coin)). Nicely toned on a decent size flan, albeit with a few small marks and a little ragged at 4 o’clock, a pleasing and collectable example nonetheless, and with a good provenance. A bold very fine or better for issue.
