Charles I (1625-1649), silver Groat, 1638-1642, Aberystwyth mint, provincial issues and coinages of the English Civil War (1642-1649), m.m. book/book. Obv. Crowned large bust facing left wearing dress with lace collar, no armour on shoulder, plume before, IIII as mark of value behind. Rev. Oval garnished shield of arms with large plume above to edge of coin. 1.97g, die axis 7h (S.2891; North 2337; Brooker 761). Toned, perfectly rounded and evenly struck, an attractive coin with much eye appeal. Almost extremely fine.
