Charles I (1625-1649), silver Shilling, 1640-1641, London (Tower) mint, Under King, Group F, m.m. Star/Star. Obv. Sixth large ‘Briot’s’ bust facing left with double arched crown and stellate lace collar, mark of value behind. Rev. Square topped shield of arms over cross moline. 5.94g, die axis 7h (S.2799). The flan a little ragged and some weakness of strike but of sound metal, nicely toned, the portrait pleasing. Good very fine.
