Charles I (1625-1649), silver Halfcrown, 1643-1645, Exeter mint, provincial issues and coinages of the English Civil War (1642-1649), m.m. rose/rose. Obv. King on horseback facing left, holding sword in right hand, reins in left. Rev. Oval garnished shield of arms within beaded inner circle. Die axis 1h (S.3065). A trifle double struck to the obverse, the flan squarish in shape but certainly not ragged, a delightfully cabinet toned piece, demonstrating even grey/purple fluorescent hues, the king, horse and reverse shield in the main bold and sharp, an attractive and desirable coin.
