Charles I (1625-1649), silver Groat, 1644, Exeter mint, provincial issues and coinages of the English Civil War (1642-1649), m.m. rose/rose. Obv. Crowned and mantled bust facing left, IIII as mark of value behind, date in legend. Rev. Crowned garnished coat of arms. 1.61g, die axis 12h (S.3088; North 2579). Lightly toned and some weakness in parts of the legends otherwise the portrait superb and quite captivating. Good very fine.
