Cnut (1016-1035), silver Penny, 1017-1023, London mint, moneyer Brihtnoth, Quatrefoil type, variant with ties from crown. Obv. Crowned bust facing left within quatrefoil. Rev. Voided long cross on quatrefoil with pellets at cusps. 1.04g, die axis 3h (S.1157 variant; North 781 variant). Minor die break at 12 o’clock otherwise a bold strike on good quality metal, the portrait especially pleasing. Extremely fine or near so and a rare variety with ties from crown.
