Commonwealth (1649-1660), silver Crown, 1652/1, large 2 over 1 in date, m.m. Sun on obverse only, edge plain. Obv. Shield within wreath, mintmark above. Rev. Conjoined shields with value above, date in legend above value. 30.04g, die axis 2h (S.3214; North 2721; Bull 5 (for type – unlisted with large 2 over 1). Tiny striking split, nonetheless a stunning example of this popular issue, beautiful cabinet tone with lustrous fields, the planchet unusually neat and perfectly round with the strike bold and central, attractive and desirable, a worthy addition to any serious Commonwealth or Crown collection. Choice and extremely rare in this condition. Slabbed and graded by NGC as MS62, (‘Top Pop’ – the single finest graded for type).

Note; At the time of writing, this is the only example of this particular type ‘slabbed’ by NGC that has made the ‘MS’ designation.
