Eadgar (959-975), silver Penny, 959-973, moneyer Liofstan, pre-reform coinage (before 973), early portrait, large bust, small cross, BMC V. Obv. Large crowned early bust facing right, EADGAR REX surrounding. Rev. Small cross pattée at centre, small cross pattée in field, legend LIOFSTAN MONETA, 1.04g, die axis 6h (S.1138; North 750; Blunt 367(c)). Some surface delamination and minor deposits, otherwise a presentable example, evenly struck on a broad and round flan with much outing beading still visible. Very fine and very rare, especially so with the additional cross to reverse.
