Edward I (1272-1307), silver Penny, 1282-1289, London mint, new coinage (1279 onwards), Class 4e. Obv. Crowned facing bust within beaded inner circle. Rev. Voided long cross, three pellets in each angle. 1.17g, die axis 8h (S.1398; North 1027). A little short of flan, lightly toned, a little patchy to reverse, nonetheless, a pleasingly bold example, well struck on sound fabric, the portrait well struck up for issue. Good very fine.
