Edward I (1272-1307), silver Penny, 1282-1289, London mint, new coinage (1279 onwards), Class 4e. Obv. Crowned facing bust within beaded inner circle. Rev. Voided long cross, three pellets in each angle. 1.30g, die axis 8h (S.1398; North 1027). The metal somewhat bright to the high-points, otherwise deeply toned with purple hues, a well struck and presentable coin . A bold very fine or better.
