Edward the Elder (899-924), silver Penny, moneyer Aethelwulf, Two Line type. Obv. Small cross pattée at centre within inner circle, EADVVEARD REX surrounding. Rev. Three small cross pattée across centre dividing AÐELPVLF MO over two lines, trefoils above and below. 1.58g, die axis 3h (S.1087; North 649). Deeply toned, the flan with a couple of very light creases, otherwise evenly struck on a nice round planchet. Very fine.
