Edward VI (1547-1553), gold Half-Sovereign, 1547-1551, London (Tower) mint, coinage in the name of Henry VIII, m.m. arrow/arrow. Obv. King enthroned facing, holding orb and sceptre, rose below. Rev. Crowned shield of arms held by lion and griffin. 6.04g, die axis 12h (S.2391; North 1865; Schneider 645-646). Some areas of softness in the strike as is common with this issue, otherwise a delightful coin, lightly toned with lustre. A pleasing example and scarce in this condition.
Slabbed and graded by NGC as MS61 (‘Joint Top Pop‘).
