George I (1714-1727), gold Guinea, 1715. Obv. Third laureate head facing right. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields, garter star in centre, sceptres in angles, date split by English crown. Die axis 6h (S.3630; EGC 504). Small mark above nose and metal flaw at edge near FD, otherwise nicely toned with some peripheral radiant lustre, a desirable issue of this widely collected monarch. A rare type. Slabbed and graded by NGC as AU58.
