George I (1714-1727), gold Quarter-Guinea, 1718, edge milled diagonally. Obv. Laureate head facing right. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields, garter star in centre, sceptres in angles, date split by English crown. 2.07g, die axis 6h (S.3638; EGC 550). A few miniscule hairlines and struck a trifle off centre, nonetheless a desirable coin, lustrous with superb eye appeal, a choice example of this popular one year type. Virtually as struck.
