George II (1727-1760), copper Proof Farthing, 1730, edge plain. Obv. Laureate and cuirassed bust facing left. Rev. Britannia seated facing left, date in exergue. 4.63g, die axis 6h (Peck 857; Cooke 422). A couple of tiny scratches in front of Britannia’s legs, otherwise beautifully toned with much original colour and mint brilliance, serving to highlight the devices, a coin of significant eye appeal, desirable thus. As Struck and rare.
