George II (1727-1760), gold Two Guineas, 1753, intermediate head, 8 harp strings, 6 hearts, dies l/11, edge Milled Chevron. Obv. Old laureate bust facing left. Rev. Crowned shield of arms with date split by crown above. 16.80g, die axis 6h (S.3669; EGC 579; Schneider 581). Lightly toned with appealing fields, flashy a lustrous retaining much mint brilliance, a delightful coin in hand and a date seldom encountered, let alone in this marvellous state. In our opinion, somewhat conservatively slabbed and graded by NGC as AU58, nonetheless still the single finest graded!
