George III (1760-1820), gold Guinea, 1783, early coinages, edge milled vertically. Obv. Fourth laureate head facing right. Rev. Crowned shield of arms, date split by crown. 8.41g, die axis 6h (S.3728; EGC 704). The obverse with some hairlines, otherwise lightly toned with dark gold shimmering lustre, a coin with good eye-appeal. Good very fine to about extremely fine and rated as ‘R2’ – very rare, in EGC (English Gold Coinage).
