George III (1760-1820), silver Sixpence, 1787, early coinages, no hearts, first I of III over D (an overstamp apparently only first noted in 2018), edge milled diagonally. Obv. Older laureate and draped bust facing right. Rev. Uncrowned straight edged cruciform shields, garter star in centre, crowns in angles, date in legend below. 3.01g, die axis 12h (S.3748; Bull 2187 var.). A couple of minor hairlines, otherwise delightfully toned with much underlying brilliance. Extremely fine and with the overstamp, extremely rare.
