George III (1760-1820), gold Guinea, 1792, early coinages, ‘Spade’ type, 7 strings to harp, 6 hearts, edge milled vertically. Obv. Fifth laureate head facing right. Rev. Crowned shield of arms, date split by crown. 8.40g, die axis 12h (S.3729; EGC 720). Some light hairlines and a little weak on the top of the hair as is usual for this issue, otherwise the fields reflective and lustrous, a desirable example of this popular type. Extremely fine or near so.
