George III (1760-1820), gold Guinea, 1793, early coinages, ‘spade’ type, italic script 1, high 7 linked to shield and 9 in date away from shield, edge milled vertically. Obv. Fifth laureate head facing right. Rev. Crowned shield of arms, date split by crown. 8.39g, die axis 12h (S.3729; EGC 723). A few light hairlines to the obverse and some trivial contact marks, nonetheless a superb coin, fully lustrous and eye-catching. Extremely fine.
