George III (1760-1820), copper Penny, 1797, Birmingham, Soho, ‘Cartwheel’ type, second issue, 11 leaves in wreath, hair tie-riband points downwards, m.m. SOHO on reverse only, edge plain. Obv. Laureate and draped bust facing right. Rev. Britannia seated facing left, date incuse on raised rim below. 28.46g, die axis 6h (S.3777; Peck 1133). A delightful coin with mirror like surfaces, lightly toned with flashes of original mint lustre, choice. Virtually as struck and scarce in this condition.
