George III (1760-1820), copper Gilt Proof Farthing, 1799, Birmingham mint, moneyer Soho Mint, late soho (third issue), raised dot on truncation, m.m. SOHO on reverse only, edge grained in centre. Obv. Laureate and draped bust facing right, date below. Rev. Britannia seated facing left above waves, ship to left, 1 FARTHING in legend. 6.20g, die axis 6h (S.3779; Peck 1269). A few trivial hairlines beneath a very light tone, the fields otherwise brilliant, the devices demonstrating a beautiful cameo effect, a nice example. Virtually as Struck.

Formerly slabbed and graded by NGC as PF64 CAMEO (now removed from slab) with accompanying slab ticket.
